| Lori Taylor here! I'm a Michigan artist, author and illustrator and I've been writing, drawing and making books and art for children ever since I could hold a pencil. I was inspired by lots of authors and illustrators, from Jean Craighead George to Beatrix Potter and Michigan's own artist and author, Gwen Frostic. My favorite books growing up were: Paddington Bear, The Bobbsey Twins, The Swiss Family Robinson, fairy tales, myths and legends. I remember when I got my first library card. I was nine years old. It opened up a whole new world for me! I read and drew all the time on the five acres of Clarkston woods that I grew up in. My HOLLY WILD book series highlights Michigan's habitat, flora and fauna, native legends and scary myths with a pinch of science and SCADS of art. All of these things and more tell the complete tale of each place. One of the best part about this series is that it gets me up, out and into Michigan parks, woods, waters, trails and other fun wild places.
